How N10bn Fake Drugs were warehoused in Ketu, Shangisha, Ikosi, Iddo and Oyingbo

Two drug traders Mr. Kennedy Okereke, alias Agama and Uchendu Oledibe have been arraigned in a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, on a 12 count charge bordering on importation, labeling and circulation of counterfeit and expired drugs worth N10 billion to the public. The two accused persons according to NAFDAC, were alleged to have committed the offence on March 2, 2015.
The two accused according the NAFDAC have their warehouses at five different places in Lagos, which includes;

1. Mosco Shonubi Close, Shangisha
2. Okunowo Street, Ikosi, Ketu
3. Bello Street, Ikosi, Ketu
4. Iddo Terminus
5. Consolidated Warehouse, Oyingbo,

The men were said to use the locations to label and circulate the counterfeit and expired drugs to innocent or unsuspecting members of the public.
Some of the 49 different brands fake drugs allegedly imported into the country and labeled by the accused persons include;

1. Tarivid 200mg tablet
2. Augmentin 625mg tablet
3. Proviron tablet
4. Novasc 10mg tablet
5. Glucophage 500mg tablet
6. Cotecxin tablet
7. Rectin – A Cream
8. Regroton tablet
9. Clomid tablet
10. Loratyn-10 tablet
11. Cytotec-200mg tablet

Also listed were Lexotan tablet, Tegretol tablet, Nizoral 200mg tablet; Analgin injection; Vitalas Tetanus injection; Viagra 100mg tablet among several others.
The NAFDAC prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 1 (a) of the Counterfeit, Fake Drug and Unwholesome Processed Foods (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act Cap C34, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and punished under Section 3 (1) (a) of the same Act.
