Lagos Police arrests hoodlum while robbing motorists in traffic at Eko Bridge

Motorists who were caught in a traffic gridlock along the Eko Bridge near Ijora on Tuesday August 20, 2015 night, had a lucky escape from the terrors of traffic robbers as a Police patrol team from Iponri Division foiled on ongoing raid by an armed gang.

The Police said it was it “in continuation of (their) onslaught against hoodlums that take advantage of traffic gridlock on some roads to rob innocent motorist”. The Police confirmed that they encountered some armed hoodlums around 8:30pm while dispossessing motorist of their valuables. One of the suspects, a male person was arrested after sustaining gunshot injury to his left leg while other gang members fled the scene with bullet wounds.
The arrested suspect was taken to hospital for treatment, while State CIID Panti Yaba Lagos have intensified efforts to apprehend other fleeing gang members as well as other hoodlums that are engaged in this nefarious act.
The Police Command also appealed to the general public to “KINDLY NOTIFY THE NEAREST POLICE STATION ONCE YOU COME ACROSS ANYONE WITH GUNSHOT WOUNDS. HOSPITALS/CLINICS SHOULD GO AHEAD AND GIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION BUT REPORT SUCH CONTACT TO THE POLICE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE”.
