I came to Lagos to steal cars and become rich - Armed robbery suspect confesses

A convicted car snatcher, Somadina Enyiobi, 26, confessed that he left his village in Oraifite in Anambra State to Lagos state with a mission to steal and become a successful rich man.

According to a report by PM News, Somadina made the confession during his trial at the Isolo Magistrates’ court where he was convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment without an option of fine for conspiracy and stealing.

He was arrested after a failed attempt to steal an SUV from Green Estate along Ago Palace Way in Okoto recently. Samadina had gone into a compound with two of his gang members and forced a househelp to give them the keys to her boss's Venza SUV. While attempting to drive the SUV out of the estate, he was arrested while his other gang members ran away.

While testifying in court, Somadina said he was brought to Lagos in 2014 by one of his close friends, Uchechukwu with the sole aim of becoming rich by stealing cars and selling them.
“Uchechukwu told me to follow him to Lagos and hussle with him and I was convinced and I followed him,” he narrated.
Somadina said he and his other car snatching gang members had no fixed address and when they make money in their business, they would lodge in a hotel.
“I don't have fixed address. If we make money, we will go to hotel and lodge and if the money finishes, we will sleep in uncompleted buildings or public schools,” he said.
His other gang members are currently at large.
